Coordination polymer (CP) glasses offer a way to tackle the fabrication challenges encountered by inorganic porous membranes and show great potentials for size-exclusive gas separation. However, their processability and performance still cannot simultaneously meet the requirements for high-performance membrane separation. Herein, we have developed a series of CP glasses (M-P-dmbIm, M=Zn, Cd, Cu, and Mn), which possess low vitrification temperature as well as low viscosity (η) and lave capability above the transition temperatures. The derived glass (ag M-P-dmbIm) membranes show outstanding performances for H2 /CO2 , H2 /N2 , and H2 /CH4 separation, which all far surpass the Robeson upper bound and even rival against the best of the state-of-the-art gas separation membranes. The low viscosities not only allow us to hot-cast or hot-press the CP glasses into thin membranes within 5 min without sacrificing their selectivity and permeability, but also endow the resulted glass membranes with healing ability.Controlling the structural order of nanoparticles (NPs), morphology, and composition is of paramount significance in tailoring the physical properties of nanoassembly. However, the commonly reported symmetrical nanocomposites often suffer an interference or sacrifice of the photophysical properties of the original components. To address this challenge, we developed a novel type of organic-inorganic Janus nanocomposite (JNCP) with an asymmetric architecture, offering unique features such as the precisely controlled localization of components, combined modular optical properties, and independent stimuli. As a proof of concept, JNCPs were prepared by incorporating two photoacoustic (PA) imaging agents, namely an organic semiconducting dye and responsive gold nanoparticles (AuNP) assembly in separate compartments of JNCP. Theoretical simulation results confirmed that the formation mechanism of JNCPs arises from the entropy equilibrium in the system. The AuNP assembly generated a PA images with the variation of pH, while the semiconducting molecule served as an internal PA standard agent, leading to ratiometric PA imaging of pH. JNCP based probe holds great potential for real-time and accurate detection of diverse biological targets in living systems.Melasma is a common acquired hypermelanosis of variably successful therapies with frequent relapse. Platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) is a promising treatment in melasma, alone or combined with other treatments. We evaluated efficacy of autologous PRP in melasma treatment and the effect of combined intense pulsed light (IPL). Study included 20 Egyptian female melasma patients. PRP was injected in all melasma area and IPL was used on the right hemi-face. Melasma Area and Scoring Index (MASI) of melasma area, modified-MASI (mMASI) of PRP-IPL side and of PRP side significantly decreased after treatments (p-value  0.05). Our study provides the first comparison between PRP versus its combination with IPL in melasma treatment. We think the improvement of melasma with regression of melasma scores after PRP treatment is an important finding.Gastroblastomas are rare tumors with a biphasic epithelioid/spindle cell morphology that typically present in early adulthood and have recurrent MALAT1-GLI1 fusions. We describe an adolescent patient with Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome who presented with a large submucosal gastric tumor with biphasic morphology. Despite histologic features consistent with gastroblastoma, a MALAT1-GLI1 fusion was not found in this patient's tumor; instead, comprehensive molecular profiling identified a novel EWSR1-CTBP1 fusion and no other significant genetic alterations. The tumor also overexpressed NOTCH and FGFR by RNA profiling. The novel fusion and expression profile suggest a role for epithelial-mesenchymal transition in this tumor, with potential implications for the pathogenesis of biphasic gastric tumors such as gastroblastoma.
Electrographic flow (EGF) mapping is a method to detect action potential sources within the atria. In a double-blinded retrospective study we evaluated whether sources detected by EGF are related to procedural outcome.

EGF maps were retrospectively generated using the Ablamap® software from unipolar data recorded with a 64-pole basket catheter from patients who previously underwent focal impulse and rotor modulation-guided ablation. We analyzed patient outcomes based on source activity (SAC) and variability. Freedom from atrial fibrillation (AF) was defined as no recurrence of AF, atypical flutter or atrial tachycardia at the follow-up visits.

EGF maps were from 123 atria in 64 patients with persistent or long-standing persistent AF. Procedural outcome correlation with SAC peaked at >26%. S-type EGF signature (source-dependent AF) is characterized by stable sources with SAC > 26% and C-type (source-independent AF) is characterized by sources with SAC ≤ 26%. Cases with AF recurrence at 3-, 6-, or 12-month follow-up showed a median final SAC 34%; while AF-free patients had sources with significantly lower median final SAC 21% (p = .0006). Patients with final SAC and Variability above both thresholds had 94% recurrence, while recurrence was only 36% for patients with leading source SAC and variability below threshold (p = .0001). S-type EGF signature post-ablation was associated with an AF recurrence rate 88.5% versus 38.1% with C-type EGF signature.

This Canadian study aimed to establish and classify risk-associated alternative health practices in a Delphi study undertaken with an interdisciplinary panel of 17 health experts in 2020. It provides a new functional definition of alternative health care and an initial taxonomy of risk-associated alternative health care practices. A number of risk-associated practices were identified and categorized into general practices that conflict with biomedical care or largely untested therapies, alternative beliefs systems, physical manipulative alternative therapies, and herbal and nutritional supplements. Our study included a prospective cohort of 574 multiple myeloma patients referred for cytogenetic testing, including interphase fluorescence in situ hybridisation for IGH (14q32.33) translocations and chromosome microarray. Loss of 12p was detected in 54/574 (9.4%) patients and when compared with the non-12p loss group [520/574 (90.6%)], 12p loss patients demonstrated a statistically significant association with specific recurrent cytogenetic markers complex molecular karyotypes (98.1% vs 45.2%), 1p loss (50.0% vs 20.2%), t(4;14) (20.4% vs 7.7%), 8p loss (37.0% vs 15.0%), 13/13q loss (70.4% vs 41.7%), and 17p loss (33.3% vs 6.5%). The size and location of 12p losses were heterogeneous with a common 0.88 Mb minimally deleted region that included ~9 genes from ETV6 to CDKN1B in 52/54 (~96.3%) patients but did not include CD27. Our findings support 12p loss being a secondary chromosome abnormality frequently co-occurring with adverse cytogenetic markers and complex molecular karyotypes indicative of chromosome instability.
Enuresis, defined as intermittent incontinence occurring exclusively during sleep, affects 4-19% of children, but can be effectively treated using education and alarm-bell therapies. However, delays in treatment are likely to impact upon the quality of life of the child, parents and carers. Poor quality and incomplete referrals are thought to be a major driver of inefficiencies. The aim of this study was to explore characteristics of enuresis referrals on the waiting list for a general medicine clinic at a tertiary paediatric hospital.

An audit was conducted to examine all enuresis referrals on the general medicine outpatient clinic waiting list in February 2019 at The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne. Enuresis referrals with an organic cause and those for children less than 5 years of age were excluded.

Of the 2613 referrals on the general medicine waiting list, 486 of 2613 (19%) were related to enuresis. The median age of patients on the waiting list was 8 years and 65% (315/486) were male. Sufficient detail was provided to determine temporal and disease stratification in 45% (218/486) of referrals; primary versus secondary enuresis, and monosymptomatic versus non-monosymptomatic enuresis. The mean number of days on the waiting list calculated at the time of data extraction (13 February 2019) was 226 (±179) days.

The findings from this study suggest that there are long waiting times for enuresis services and referrals often do not contain complete information.
