Primary malignant mesothelioma of the liver is an extremely rare cancer, with only 16 cases reported in the literature so far. Diagnosis is challenging due to morphological similarity with common liver cancers and the extreme rarity of the condition.

We present the case of a 70-year-old man who was found to have an incidental liver mass which was diagnosed as primary malignant mesothelioma of the liver.

Our report describes the presentation of this rare liver malignancy and the challenges associated with diagnosis and treatment.

Primary malignant mesothelioma of the liver is an extremely rare condition. This diagnosis should be considered during the evaluation and treatment of a liver mass.

We tested the MyPredi
e-platform which is dedicated to the automated, intelligent detection of situations posing a risk of decompensation in geriatric patients.

The goal was to validate the technological choices, to consolidate the system and to test the robustness of the MyPredi
e-platform through daily use.

The telemedicine solution took 3,552 measurements for a hospitalized patient during her stay, with an average of 237 measurements per day, and issued 32 alerts, with an average of 2 alerts per day. The main risk was heart failure which generated the most alerts (n=13). The platform had 100% sensitivity for all geriatric risks, and had very satisfactory positive and negative predictive values.

The present experiment validates the technological choices, the tools and the solutions developed.

Here we present a case of severe valve frame infolding of a CoreValve Evolut PRO® self-expandable THV (Medtronic Inc.), which was restored to optimal geometry with balloon post-dilation.
Clinicians should be aware of the rare complication of frame infolding during deployment of a self-expanding transcatheter valve.Multimodality cardiac imaging is important to optimize transcatheter valve deployment.

A unique characteristic of the described case is the co-occurrence of non-immune haemolytic anaemia (NIHA) with the complex triad. It is suggested that this presentation is secondary to hyperlipidemia which leads to increased fragility of erythrocytes due to destabilization of red cell membranes. Supportive treatment with intravenous insulin and blood transfusions is the cornerstone of treatment.
The enigmatic triangle of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), hypertriglyceridemia and acute pancreatitis is a rare phenomenon occurring in only 4% of DKA cases. This triad can be complicated by non-immune haemolytic anaemia secondary to hyperlipidemia, which leads to increased fragility of the erythrocyte due to destabilization of red cell membranes.Supportive treatment with intravenous insulin administration and blood transfusions is the cornerstone of treatment.

We discuss the occurrence of these conditions as well as their treatment.
This case illustrates a mode of onset of dermatomyositis that could challenge its classification as a 'paraneoplastic' syndrome, as the dermatomyositis appeared when the patient was in complete metabolic remission. This case also raises questions about the observed relationship between IVIG administration and the onset of subcutaneous oedema and Evans' syndrome.

Its severity varies from minimal blood-streaked sputum to life-threatening haemorrhage. Therefore, prompt evaluation of the cause of the haemoptysis and its severity, and timely management are crucial. Although there is still no effective therapy for haemoptysis apart from treating the cause, inhaled tranexamic acid (TXA) might have a potential role in controlling non-massive haemoptysis. Here, we present a case of non-massive haemoptysis in a COPD patient with bronchiectasis on rivaroxaban for atrial fibrillation who responded to inhaled TXA following a failed trial of the oral formulation.
Haemoptysis is the expectoration of blood and has several causes including bronchitis, bronchiectasis and bronchial neoplasms; severity ranges from simple blood-streaking of sputum to massive blood without sputum.Early recognition of haemoptysis, identification of the cause, and controlling it are crucial, especially in patients on anti-coagulation medicine.Inhaled tranexamic acid has shown benefit in controlling bleeding in patients with non-massive haemoptysis.

However, peritoneal metastasis with malignant ascites is extremely rare and may be overlooked by physicians. We report the case of a 77-year-old man presenting with symptoms of abdominal distension, nausea and weight loss. Abdominal ultrasound and computerised tomography confirmed ascites, peritoneal carcinomatosis and an enlarged prostate. Serum and ascitic prostatic-specific antigen were both elevated. Prostate biopsy identified a prostate adenocarcinoma, while biopsy of a peritoneal implant identified a prostate cancer metastasis, which responded well to hormonal therapy.
Prostate cancer is the most frequent malignancy found in men, often metastasising to bones and lymph nodes.Although a rare site of metastasis, peritoneal cancer should be suspected when encountering a case of malignant ascites, in order to not delay diagnosis and treatment.Despite the generally poor prognosis of this malignancy, early diagnosis and hormonal treatment may lead to good clinical, symptomatic and analytical outcomes.

Pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) is an uncommon metabolic bone disorder characterized by biochemical hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia and raised parathyroid hormone (PTH), and target tissue unresponsiveness to the biological actions of PTH. In addition, many patients with PHP exhibit a distinctive constellation of developmental and skeletal defects.

An 11-year-old girl was brought to emergency pediatric department for the assessment of fever with generalized tonic-clonic seizure (GTCS) with inability to walk. She had hypocalcemia and hyperphosphatemia. The diagnosis of PHP was made and was started on Vitamin D3 and oral calcium. Physical examination revealed no dysmorphic features. find more Biochemical investigations revealed normal complete blood count, liver and renal functions, and arterial blood gas. However, serum PTH was high with slightly decreased Vitamin D3.

As per our knowledge, this is the first reported case in literature of bilateral pathological transcervical neck femur fracture in a case of PHP following episode of GTCS. Multidisciplinary team approach with the involvement of pediatrician, endocrinologist, and orthopedic surgeon and devising a plan after thorough workup keeping in mind the infrequent presentations of hypoparathyroidism and adequate pre-operative optimization helps provide appropriate management of this rare presentation. This case report was prepared following the CARE guidelines.
