Gray Wolf






Description
The gray wolf is covered in fur, and the color of the fur depends on where it lives. It ranges from white, black, cream, white with gray, and tawny. They have bushy tails, pointy ears, long legs, large teeth, and yellow eyes. A gray wolf can weigh from 57-130 pounds. An adult gray wolf’s height ranges from 3-5 feet.






Habitat
Most gray wolves have been hunted and have gone nearly extinct, but the ones who have managed to survive live in tundra, woodlands, forests, grasslands, desert, and mountain areas.






Diet
The gray wolf is a carnivore, and it eats mostly large hoofed animals such as elk, deer, moose, and caribou, but they also eat a variety of small prey, such as beavers and rabbits. They need to eat about 7 pounds of meat per day to reproduce successfully, but they can survive on about 2.5 pounds.

All pet dogs are descendants of gray wolves.
They help keep deer and elk populations in check.
They are more active at dawn and dusk.
Gray wolves don’t howl at the moon, that is just a myth.
A 60 pound wolf has the same paw size as a 100 pound dog.






Conclusion
While researching the gray wolf, I have decided that it is my favorite animal. It’s my favorite animal because it can hunt, they run fast, they can howl, and they look cool.
