In 2020, the developers announced an important change to Minecraft: Java Edition, since players will soon have to switch from a Mojang account to a Microsoft account to keep playing. https://best-minecraft-servers.xyz/ ' in terms of relative time, since we still haven't actually hit the deadline, but the developers have just confirmed the date and put out the final call for account migration.
As as of March 10, you will no longer be able to play Minecraft: Java Edition with an account with a Mojang account. The developers are encouraging everyone to switch to Microsoft accounts for "improved security and player safety" and are entice gamers to switch by offering free Minecraft capes.
You can get all the information on how to transfer your account here. Java Edition will continue to be supported in the normal way following the change and will continue remain a separate entity from Bedrock. This is a purely unification of the accounts systems. You'll be able keep your old username it's just that you'll need have an Xbox gamertag to go with it.
