Minecraft Copper Uses Guide

Minecraft copper arrived in the long-awaited 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update, introduced as part of Mojang's pledge to the community to brighten up the cave and mountain systems. The update also included copper and new Minecraft mobs, such as adorable mountain goats and adorable Axolotls.

While the new resource is unique in many ways, one thing that veterans will love about Minecraft copper is its unique ability to change color when exposed to the elements. Copper can be used for many purposes for building, including construction. But how can you get it?

What is Minecraft use copper for?

Building

Copper is a great block for industrial-style Minecraft designs like factories because of its clean cut or oxidised looks. This oxidization mechanic results in four distinct color versions of copper, ranging from its natural copper-yellow look to its verdigris-like appearance. Copper is among the most unique items in Minecraft's building inventory.

There are four variants of the standard smooth block of Copper, but the same goes for slabs and stairs, as well as cut coppertoo. Making Copper blocks in survival mode will result in the original version. You can expose it for a certain time to trigger the colour to change. To maintain any of the stages of oxidisation, you should combine the block and honeycomb on a Crafting Table, resulting in a waxed block which does not be oxidised.

Lightning Rods

Copper can also be used to craft lightning rods. These objects, which are semi-defensive, draw lightning in lightning strikes and divert it away from any flammable wood or wool structures. To make lightning rods place three copper ingots along an unidirectional vertical line across the middle column.

Redstone circuits can also be used with lightning rods. Copper emits an redstone signal after being struck with lightning. The uncertainty of lightning strikes can result in an unpredictable effect.

Charged Creeper farm

A Charged Creeper farm is another fantastic use for the lightning rod. Charged Creepers aren't created naturally in vanilla Minecraft. They are created when a Creeper gets struck by lightning. As you may know that a Creeper explodes if it is too close to it. But a Charged Creeper could inflict a much more devastating damage. Why would you want to farm them?

Well, interestingly, Charged Creepers are the only way to farm one specific item of decoration that you may not even know are available in vanilla Minecraft Mob heads. Although Skeleton mob heads were the first to be officially added to the inventory of survival in 1.18 with the addition of Ancient Cities, no other mob head can be obtained in vanilla Minecraft without a Charged Creeper being involved. If a Charged Creeper kills another mob, the mob might drop its own head as an item. Therefore, you can create an easy mob farm by using lightning rods to direct thunder strikes and then decorate your base's walls with your favorite mob's decapitated heads. Nice.

Spyglass crafting recipe

A spyglass is a different key item you can create in Minecraft using copper. Two copper ingots and one Minecraft Amethyst Shard are needed to create an eyeglass. This item was introduced in the Caves and Cliffs updates. The spyglass is used for zooming into and focusing on a particular portion of your field of view. While looking down at the lens your speed of walking will slow down.

Minecraft: Where can I mine copper for raw?

Copper is located underground between levels 112 and -16, and requires the use of a stone pickaxe or better to mine. Copper can be located below Y-level 0. There is also the Deepslate version, which is more difficult to break. If mined without the Silk Touch Minecraft Enchantment Copper Ore drops raw Copper in the same manner as other ores, which is then smelted in a Furnace or Blast Furnace. With Silk Touch, the Ore block drops itself.
Editum

Copper is a common ore, and you can discover plenty of it without even trying. However, if you are specifically on a hunt for the shiny orange color, your best bet is going to be the Y-level 48.
