How To Edit Minecraft Server Files

The web-based FTP client enables you to manage your Minecraft server files with ease from the panel. To access your Minecraft server files using the web client, navigate to FTP File Access and log in using your panel password. Once authenticated you will be directed to the home directory of your server.

Navigating Server Files

Navigating through server files is similar to what you would do on your desktop. In the center is the directory structure. We can navigate to, choose and edit our files from here. To view the contents of the folder, click it. To edit a File we click Edit and to download, we click the actual name of the file.

There are options to manage the files you've chosen. After you've selected the items you've that you have checked, you can assign actions to them such as:

Move Files another directory on your server. Remove - Permanently erase selected files.

Copy Make a copy the files you have selected.

Rename - Rename specific files

Download Select files can be downloaded to an archive format.

Zip - Archive selected files and save onto the server.
Minecraft servers

Unzip and extract the contents of an archive into the directory you are currently in.

Edit - Edit the respective file using a built-in text editor.

Create New Folder and Files

You can create new files or folders directly from your panel by selecting the New Dir or the New File Upload option in the left side menu.

New Dir - Create a fresh folder (directory).

New File - Create a new plain text file.

Upload - Upload a group of files or an archive.

When using the Upload option to upload files to your server, it's important to remember that you can only upload single files, and not entire folders. If you're looking to upload a whole folder, you'll have to upload it as an archive file, and then use the unzip option to extract its contents onto your server.

Limitations

While the web-based FTP client is easy and quick for light uploads and editing of servers but it does have limitations. When making changes to your server files or uploading new files it is using the web page of the panel as an intermediary for file exchange. This means that you are limited to how you can upload in a single session. The limit is set at 50mb and any upload or file that is greater than this limit will need to be performed using a 3rd Party FTP client, such as Filezilla. Third-party FTP clients like Filezilla do not have a limit on file size since they directly connect to your server's files, not the web-based FTP client.
