Poker is thought to have very ancient origins which date back more than 1,100 years. Some historians believe that poker's roots can be traced to a ten-century Chinese emperor who, according to legend, had an extraordinary "psychic" capacity to see the future. The earliest origin of poker chips was China according to historical records; interestingly enough, this innovation was not widely adopted in the United States until the Great Depression.
