Heroes-WoW - Private Server Not Worth Playing On
I'll keep this simple with TLDR labels at the start of each grievance.
TLDR: Pay 2 Win.
You can purchase equipment and buffs that have extreme stats. These items are not available to non-donors and do not drop in the game. If you spend a few hundred dollars in the online shop, you can kill someone who plays through all the game content and obtains all the best gear.
TLDR
Blue text will appear on your screen where the raid warnings should be. This is quite common during play. This text is from the server's various game masters and the text is usually nonsensical or meaningless. One example broadcast would be, "Why are you reding the game that you shud be playing?" Sometimes, the same message is repeated over and over, such as "Hey there! Look here!" After a few times, they will send a larger skill icon that consumes your screen.
The unprofessionalism goes on. It might be your raiding night, and you spent an hour or so assembling a team with their "1 LFR per minute in all channels" rule. You will receive a broadcast from the server saying "Server will lag 10 minutes" during your raid. Serverlist101 It's unbearable, so log off. After this prolonged period of lag, you'll be notified that the server will be restarted in 5 minutes. The gms may not wait the full five minutes and restart the server when only a few seconds have passed.
3) TLDR - Forced Donation via PvP Griefing. Heroes-WoW boasts a non-linear PvE Raid Progression scheme. I say non-linear with respect to the raid order on Blizz-like WoTLK servers. One of the entry level raids for ICC is the Lichking. The gunship does not work, the Lichking is only available in 25 men, and the Lichking is very buggy which often results in having to force the wow server to close to allow you to play again.
To progress through their raids you will need their tier-specific gear. Their tier 15 instance was deliberately placed in a PvP area, Wintergrasp. This zone is populated by their donor pvp grievers. As soon as you teleport to Wintergrasp you are often met with an AoE attack that kills your entire raid in 1 - 2 hits, and then some rude comment regarding you being a 'nab' and then a nice emote of 'griefer cries on your shoulder'. You have several options. You have two options. You can either purchase their donated equipment so that you can pvp griefers on equal terms, or you could leave the server.
To make matters worse, game masters can play in the arenas or battle grounds! Yes, game masters will get the best gear and join arenas and battle grounds to grieve their players. A common conversation before joining a battleground goes like this: "Want to join a bg?" "Uh, is X GM playing? If so, then no."
4) TLDR GMs Donor Bash Their Supporters
There is an overall lack of respect for the entire player base on Heroes-WoW by the staff. Although there is some preferential treatment I'm referring to the entire player base on Heroes-WoW, it is not all that common. The average player who doesn't donate has no connection to the server. This makes the donators the most disrespectful. You can see a variety of cases where players purchased extremely expensive gear items from the donation shop but did not receive it in-game. The worst case scenario I have witnessed was a player struggling with the staff for 16 days (yes! 16 days. He was trying to get the gear he bought in-game. Finally, he left the server without a refund.
TLDR: More bugs than the average private server.
This server is home to far too many bugs. Every evening at varying times the owner will restart the server - unannounced mind you - to implement core updates to the trinity emulation software they use. It would seem that most of their problems would be solved if they provided frequent updates at the expense their players (restarting a server during a boss encounter, for example). These core updates don't improve game play, but that is the truth. Despite constant reboots to upgrade their core, the bugs in their raid encounters remain unattended for many months. They are, more or less, installing new software updates and hoping the complaints will go away after the new patch.
