Hey,

We’re a passionate duo (both NP students!) working on a brand new project for NP! We hope to receive support from you guys (in terms of advertising and usage).

About the project
MyXtra is a community social network, and search engine for Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
Students will be able to use our search engine for NP-related searches, like finding the best Chicken rice in campus, and checking on the canteen crowd. Students can also submit their own results into the system. (All user-created content will be moderated).
Users can also sign up for a free account and verify using their NP-student mail to access special features – like our very own social network. Students can connect with registered users, share content, create their own feed channels, and take part in on-site competitions. We’ll have our very own events and competitions hosted – and plan to add a couple of minigames.
This is a good opportunity for students to connect with each other and will definitely be useful when doing researches, and conducting studies for their projects.

How you can help
We’d first like to know what you think about our website, even though we’re not officially related to NP, it’s something we built specially for you! It would be nice to also get some feedback and suggestions for our site, and whether you’ll be willing to use our site to actively post campus updates, and interact with the users.

Development
The site is fully self-developed, and self-funded. (100% passion!) We’re still in the midst of coding the site functionalities. You can track our progress at: http://myxtra.space
Do note that most features are still under development – and our search engine is still being refined, and once we’re fully functional, more phrases and search terms will be added into the system.

Moderation of content
All user-created content will be moderated for inappropriate content. There’ll also be report buttons visible beside every user-created content. Additionally, we also have algorithms in place to flag possible inappropriate posts. We want MyXtra to be a safe place for all.

Account security
We make use of NP’s student email to verify an account’s student status. When a user specifies his/her student email, our system will dispatch an email with a verification link to that email address – this is to verify that the student indeed does own that email account, granting him student permissions.
We do not disclose or have access to a student’s student details and will never ask for them. All private account information are also securely hashed (like how any other corporations store their passwords).
