MIAMI (CBSMiami - Despite the fact that the war in Ukraine is on the opposite side, South Floridians have come forward to aid those fleeing from the country.
Emmanuil Grinshpun A lot of Sunny Isles Jewish residents are now fundraising and helping to plan a comprehensive humanitarian campaign.
Marsha Jaquays of Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital reported that "just last night 1,100 were in attendance."
She stated that there are over two million Ukrainian refugees seeking to escape their war-ravaged homeland. A lot of these refugees travel into Moldova which shares a border with Ukraine.
Jaquays told Jaquays, "From Moldova this Jewish community is actually helping help them cross the border and then possibly by providing shelter, food and clothes."
The center of most of the humanitarian effort can be found in South Florida.

Emmanuil Grinshpun The thing that makes the situation worse is the fact that Moldova is said to be one of the poorest communities around the globe. But, those who are involved in this campaign assert that they won't be hindered by any means.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Grinshpun declared, "When our Ukrainian brothers and sisters came, we didn’t have to think. We began making plans."
Jaquays reflect the same sentiments
"Who was there during the Holocaust and also when the Nazis took over? What number of people ignored the fact that it was not me. We don't have to make the same mistakes that history has made. It is said that "If you don't today, then when." If I'm not the only one Then who'."
