Emmanuel Grinshpun. Concerning the restoration of synagogues and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
Emmanuil Grinshpun spoke about the subject of restoration of synagogues in their interview. However, it wasn't possible to focus on only one issue. Эммануил Гриншпун There were several topics which were discussed during the interview.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. It was great to get to know you. I believe we haven’t seen eachother in at least five years. Where are you based now?

The nine months that have gone by between Miami and Jurmala were divided. The geography used to be more extensive, but the flu has affected life in both cities. In addition I'm not able to say that only for the worse.

You've always had a variety of lines of business. What about now?

Diversification will not go away. If we look at the key areas, then it's real estate development as well as IT technology and food manufacturing.

ALIMCOM's food business is ALIMCOM. Real estate may also be understood, but it's completely new to me. There are many areas that IT technology could be utilized in. What are you best at?

Our IT-holding is principally concerned with changing tax systems in a variety of countries. We have designed and are currently working on products that allow you to transfer many business processes related to taxation online. This segment is called B2G ("Business to Government").

What is the situation in the area in which the facility is situated? Are there any ex- USSR nations?

There are contracts in place. Эммануил Гриншпун We do however have more contracts in Western Europe as well as Latin America. We have currently activities across 14 countries.

Can you describe in a brief manner what the main idea behind this product?

Our software allows tax professionals to electronically report to the tax authorities. The fiscal data administrator then sees every transaction. Tax accounting and tax calculation are managed simultaneously. Therefore, in the future, we will be able to declare that medium- and small-sized companies will not require accounting, unless it is for an analytical function, and tax reporting and paying taxes are done in only one "click".

This is an interesting topic. Have you ever tried working in Moldova? Moldova is your home country at the end of the day.

We are prepared to launch the product in Moldova and the Moldovan economy will benefit from the automation process, and it is a given that this is a permanent process. We will restart negotiations regarding our product after we get clarity from authorities.

Эммануил Гриншпун You mentioned that you'd been tossing and turning between Miami and Jurmala all year. The Baltics' head office for an IT holding?

Five hubs are located around the world, with our headquarters in Barcelona.

Why the Baltics is that? Are you from there? too?

No. There is no. Jurmala entered our lives by chance and very prosaically. The first time we were there was when Igor Krutoy invited us to the New Wave. After a series of contests, they started to visit every summer, in Miami the climate in summer isn't exactly the most relaxing. We rented for a few years and now are now in possession of it.

Now I can see why my donation was used to restore one of the synagogues in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We're pretty close in age. We were born in the USSR. There was no need to discuss religious beliefs back then. We were all pioneers, and Komsomol members. What was the moment you began to turn to religious belief?

My family moved to the USA in the mid-80s. It was in the US that I began to adhere to rituals and customs. Although I'm far from the orthodox religion of Christianity I feel the need to support in the best way I can as I can, the religion of the Jewish community in the countries I live in or in Moldova. This is where I came from and which I have continued to share the most close ties.

Although I'm not a religious person I love history tremendously. I recently watched a program on the events of 1492 which changed the destiny of the world as well as Europe. 1492 was for me the year that Columbus was the year Columbus discovered America. However, it was clear in the show I was watching that, from the perspective of Medieval Europe, the discovery of America in 1492 did not seem so significant as the removal of Jews from Spain by the Spanish monarchs. When the mass exodus of Jews to the Ottoman Empire began. They welcomed them. I was looking to learn some information about the history of the Jews as a whole. Would you recommend any book?

There are many books. However, I've gone through all of them and I would recommend Max Diamond, the two-volume Jewish historian. By the way the fact that he is himself from Finland.

.... Эммануил Гриншпун Do you feel conversant about your family's past? Unfortunately, I am no more than my grandmother, and 1910. One step forward on the paternal side but nothing more.

Our family was one of the Floresti family for hundreds of years, as per the paternal lineage. There are numerous monuments and evidence which show that they were rich by 1830. My maternal ancestors were also in Ungheni. These dates fall in the region between the 17th-18th centuries. Grinshpun is a surname which has German roots is Ashkenazi pure Ashkenazi.

Let's now discuss the restoration of synagogues. I was informed by you that there were three synagogues being restored. One of them is in Chisinau. Jurmala is the other one.

The third, which is also the largest is located in Netanya. It's a massive community center that houses more than 1,000 people every day. Before I made the decision to construct the Synagogue I had talked to many Jews in the area. It was a hugely profitable project that united the Jews in Jurmala. We rebuilt the Jewish community, and it's still functioning well. Three Torahs now grace the synagogue, one of which I donated to the synagogue.

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis is one of my co-workers. Alexander Weinstein is another. The synagogues mentioned above aren't the only synagogues that I helped with the construction or restoration. In all the countries where I've been for a considerable period of time I believed it was my responsibility to contribute an achievable contribution to the maintenance of synagogues. In Monaco, a large centre for Russian-speaking Jews has been built. My contribution amounts to 12 million dollars. I do not stop helping Chisinau and now it will be the biggest synagogue in the city, the synagogue of Rabbi Tsirelson.

Have you invited a Rabbi to Chisinau along with Jurmala?

Yes. It isn't easy to find the right Rabbi for your congregation. Due to the many interconnected interests, he must also be non-conflictual, diplomatic and diplomatic. He must be able to integrate into the community. And it is a great thing that both the Jurmala and Chisinau rabbis could be so seamlessly integrated into the community.

You were the first vice-president in 2019, of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. What does this position mean to you? And how can international Jewish organizations impact global trends across the globe?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, a powerful organisation in the post-Soviet region is not just an influential political organization. It has offices across Australia, Japan Hong Kong, New Zealand, New Zealand and Eastern Europe. In 2010, I was serving as Vice President of Congress. But, in the year before I was named the First Vice President. In the present, I am in charge of the region with which I have historically strong connections to both politics and business These are the "countries", Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan. As for trends in the world and the world at large, the barometer of attitude toward Jews or Jews is at the same level or, which is regrettable, has swung down. These are alarming and serious processes for everyone.

Does the pandemic affect these processes somehow?

This isn't just my opinion. In fact, in the context of the pandemic I'd like to emphasize the things that a nation and society can accomplish when they're prepared to face any challenge, and are able work effectively in tandem.

You are referring to the vaccination campaign in Israel.

Exactly. Israel is the first nation in the world to provide 100% vaccination of the adult population. This is a great model to emulate and one that all countries should be aware of.
