The Morning After: Sony Wants PS5 Software Beta Testers

This is your chance to test out new PlayStation 5 features before everyone else. Sony is launching an open beta program for PS5 software for the system, with a view to testing what's being described as an "major update" scheduled for later this year. Perhaps we can expand the SSD? In the coming weeks, Sony will release more details about the forthcoming features.



The sign-ups are only open to PS5 owners in the US, UK, Canada, Japan, Germany and France and you have to be over 18 to participate. You will receive an email with instructions on how to download the beta firmware if you are selected.



Microsoft has been running the Xbox Insider Program for years and Sony has tapped on its customers to test beta patches on the PS4. However, this appears to be more extensive. Sony might need all the testers it can gather: PS5 is in its early stages, and it isn't easy to find stocks.

An early experience with Windows 11



Windows 10 meets macOS. Devindra Hardawar has spent several hours playing around with the now-infamous Windows 11 leak, says that it feels a lot like macOS. This might be down to the sheer virtue of this early version being a clean and even a Kondo-styled version of Windows 10. For starters there's a new, centered Taskbar that behaves the same way as it did since Windows 95, housing the Start menu button as well as active apps and the choice of shortcuts. Microsoft nominates CEO Satya Nadella as chairman



After Bill Gates, the second person to hold both of these roles is you.



Microsoft has appointed Satya Nadella, CEO, as its chair. This is the first time a person has held both posts since Bill Gates' departure as chief executive in 2000. It's yet another affirmation for an executive who has boosted Microsoft on a variety of aspects: Microsoft is now the second-highest valued company in the world, behind Apple and Apple, with a market capitalization of $1.9 trillion. Nadella has also overseen a number of successful acquisitions, including Minecraft, LinkedIn, GitHub and, most recently gaming giant ZeniMax. Continue reading.



All future Disney+ original series will air on Wednesdays



It's great because I'm eager for the upcoming 'Loki. It's not an anomaly in time. Disney+ will now launch new episodes on Wednesdays. The previous series released the most recent episodes on Fridays, but it might be that Disney is trying to capture that watercooler vibe by ensuring that more people are discussing the latest shows before the weekend arrives.
