How To Play Online Poker
The small blind equals half of the big blind. The blind amounts depend on the limit you are playing at. The blinds are used in Texas Holdem to replace antes. This gives the eight other players at the table the freedom to fold their cards without charge.

Five playing cards should be distributed by the dealer to each player. The rule for distributing cards is to place them from left to right. Each player should receive one card. Once the round is complete, the dealer starts with the second round to distribute second card and so on.

Another round of bets takes place. This round starts with the player with highest cards showing. From 4th Street onwards, the player with the highest number of cards continues to be the first to place a bet.

Players have the option of raising, checking, or folding during a round. When the round of betting is over, the dealer discards the card at the top of the deck. After this burn card, dealer flips the next three cards face-up onto the table. This is the flop. The three community cards are available to any player along with their pocket card. The second round of betting begins with the player sitting left of the dealer.

The players here are given five hole cards. After the first round, they can either discard or draw five cards. It is the player having the highest five card poker hand at showdown who wins the game.

The dealer will now "burn" one more card face down on his table and deal the final river to the board. Although there are now five cards on the table for Texas Holdem, each player can only use three of those cards to make a 5-card poker hand. Poker action starts with the small blind. The dealer acts last. Check, Bet, Raise or Fold. Once this round of betting is complete, the showdown will take place.
