Neve ParitzkiJerusalem is the site of the world's first bicycle tunnel in Israel.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for a the most unique riding and hiking experience.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first bike tunnel, opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycling route surrounds Jerusalem.


The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The tunnel's southern entry point is located within Refaim Park below Ein Laban. While the northern entrance can be found in Nahal Ein Kerem about half a km from the Kerem junction.

Elkin, who heads the project along with Jerusalem Municipality said that his ministry invests millions of dollars in the development of Jerusalem's tourism and also in the development of new tourist attractions and ventures that connect the glorious past of Jerusalem to the future. I encourage cyclists to take advantage of a a well-maintained, modern cycling route overlooking the unique landscape of Old Jerusalem.

A total of NIS 25 million were invested in the project, financed by the Elkin's Ministry as well as the Tourism Ministry, the Jerusalem Municipality, the Gihon Corporation and the Jerusalem Purification and Sewerage Works, as well as the work done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

The Kerem Tunnel was originally excavated in 1990 to move the main sewer from Gihon Corporation towards the Sorek purification facility. The plant is located west of Sorek and is still used as an infrastructure tunnel.

Road construction installation, blowers, sophisticated safety systems and electrical wiring are all part of the present work. The tunnel will be safe for the people to use all year.

The Kerem Tunnel gives you access to a variety of recreation sites, including Ein Kerem Neighborhood, the Biblical Zoo and Aquarium as well as historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh or Ein Laban.
