How many Minecraft players are there? Minecraft could be the most popular game on the planet today, and the latest player counts indicate that it's bigger than nearly every country on earth.



It's not surprising that Minecraft has hit a number of milestones on it's 11th anniversary this year. There were over 200 million copies of Minecraft sold as of May 2020, which is an increase of 24 million copies over the previous year. It's been an amazing year for Minecraft with the release of Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Earth.



The Minecraft open-world game we love and adore shows no signs of slowing down, either, with a yearly increase of players and frequent updates like the Minecraft Nether update and introduction of new biomes, blocks and mobs that keep Minecraft fresh even though players seem to be running out of ideas. With so many impressive designs by players popping up including Minecraft Hogwarts and Minecraft house ideas, just how many players are playing Minecraft?

Helen Chiang, Mojang's studio head, has stated in a blog post that "126 million players" are currently playing Minecraft each month. This is in addition to the 112 million monthly active users as of September 2019 which was disclosed in an interview with Helen Chiang, Business Insider and Helen Chiang. Chiang says, "What we find is it's a game that people continue to return to." "It may not always be in the spotlight, since there are plenty of great games that continue to appear but it's one they love to return to."



Minecraft has reached 480 million users worldwide in 2019 thanks to both paid sales and registered accounts for the free to play version in China. Analyst Daniel Ahmad noted that the Chinese release was launched in 2017 and has since attracted nearly 300 million players. The paid version has sold 180 million copies across the globe. This would make Minecraft the third-largest country in the world, just behind China and India.
