Water is an important resource we need. It is
renewable because the natural weather cycles
bring rain to re-fill rivers and dams. Petroleum is non-renewable, because it took millions of years to form. Once it is used, it cannot be replaced in any reasonable time.
5. Provide an example of a man-made resource and name the natural resource that used to make it.

6. Provide a natural resource example and outline at least 2 properties it has that makes it
useful.
7. Define an ore.
8. Outline at least 3 steps in the exploration for resources.
9. Draw a flowchart for the processing of copper after its been mined out of the ground.
10. Define sustainability.
11. What are the 3 R’s for sustainability.
12. Select one non-renewable and one renewable resource and describe how it can be used
sustainably.
13. Explain the consequences of utilising a renewable resource faster than it can replenish.

humanity in better understanding space. Explain how each has assisted us in our
understanding of space.

3. Describe what will happen to the particles of a solid if you add energy to it.
4. Define an atom, element, mixture, molecule and compound.

each.
7. Write the name and symbol of the first 20 elements.
8. Describe the structure of the periodic table.
9. Draw labelled diagrams of the first 10 atoms.
10. Compare a physical and chemical change.
11. Provide 2 examples of each.
12. List the forms of evidence we use to identify whether a chemical reaction has occurred.
13. Write a word equation for the reaction of magnesium metal and hydrochloric acid.
14. Describe a precipitation and combustion reaction.
Working Scientifically

different temperatures.
