If your Volvo key fob has started to function intermittently, that's a good sign that the battery is depleted and will require replacement soon.

Fortunately, there are easy steps you can follow to replace your Volvo key fob battery at your own expense. Find a clean area to work on. Then, you can lay out all of the tools you need. Then, locate the battery hatch, and open it using a flathead, a coin, or a similar tool. Next, carefully pry the battery out of its socket by lifting it on the side that is closest to the key-ring loop. Be sure to wear rubber gloves to avoid damaging the contacts or the clips.

Once the battery has been removed, place the new battery into its socket. Make sure the positive side of the battery is facing upwards and the clips are all seated. Slide the cover towards the key-ring until it becomes loose, and it falls off. Then, lift the cover to reveal the key blade inside. How to Start Your Vehicle
