I needed to update Java this morning and I was in a rush. I just clicked through the first page of this wizard and did not pay much attention. Then I remembered that it was stating that it would install the Ask.com application. Grrr.

I could have stopped it, but I decided to continue. There was no indication of the extension after the install. After restarting it, Chrome reported that the extension "Search App By Ask 2" was added!
I did not turn it on however, and I checked my search engine settings. While ask.com was added, it wasn't set as my default search engine. design That's it!
I'm not happy the fact that Oracle added a browser toolbar within the install of the Java runtime. I wonder how many kids who installed Java to play Minecraft have this toolbar installed?
