my fascination and adoration for the world of human anatomy and all its flaws threats and vulnerabilities while not with me from my earliest childhood, has grown exponentially as I have grown. the more I learned of medicine the more fabulously complex mysteries I became transfixed by. the more I dreamed of knowing from staring in awe at the x rays on my dads screen saver singing heads shoulders knees and toes to make sense of them, to flicking eagerly through my clinical hand book on a ward round in Ghana for the definition of pre-eclampsia. each time in my life that I have been confronted with medicine and its ability to ease pain, provide freedom and improve life for patients and their families, I am more convinced of what I want, and if given the chance, absolutely should be doing or as long as I am able.

the biggest challenge in my academic career so far has been the progression to Alevel from GCSE, testing and strengthening my tenacity and work ethic, especially in physics a subject I enjoy but have particularly struggled with at as level. I have had to adept to allow for a good work life balance in order to cope with exam stress through my passion for yoga and running and also painting, which I have been able to turn into a small business doing commissions fro friends and family. my enthusiasm for the beauty of anatomy has inspired my GCSE exam project focusing on surreal anatomy. my interest in painting has refined my patience, attention to detail and pursuit of perfection. I will be attempting grade seven in French horn this winter and have learned dedication and teamwork through playing with the Bourton Borough concert band for the last eight years with whom I have been lucky enough to compete in the world music festival in Zurich and Kerkrade placing eighth in the 2012 competition. other hobbies include reading, though I usually enjoy classic literature my curiosity and preparation for my chosen career had lead me to read Do No Harm by Henry Marsh and Tomorrows doctors
