Беше једно дрво старо,
усред шуме усамљено.
Оно пријатеља није имало
и зато је усамљено било
Само се један дечак по њему пењао,
а дрво коначно пријатеља добило.
Током година дечак се мењао
и једног дана дрво питао:
"Можеш ли ми новца дати?"
"Ево ти јабука, можеш их продати."
И дечак јабуке прода.
Први пут пријатеља изда.
И није му доста.
Дечак је растао као из воде,
незасит је постао,
а дрво дарежљиво остало.
Пита дечак дрво после пуно година:
"Хоћу кућу да саградим, али материјала немам, имаш ли ти?"
"Ако ћеш кућу начинити,
гране моје употреби ти."
Он се дрвету поново жали,
да лађу сагради , он навали.
Дрво му старо дебло поклонило
да би од њега велику лађу направио.
На крају, када је дечак много остарио,
на пању дрвета је почивао.
Добро дрво је срећно било
што пријатеља у загрљај привило.
