My interest in math dates back to my childhood. When I was five, I was first exposed to math by my cousin. It intrigued me how a simple-sounded "find x" problem can take him days and pages of paper to solve. I was set to discover this little "mystery".

As I began my education, I picked up a special interest in numbers. I found numbers extraordinary. They are all different and unique. Not two numbers are the same. Yet, if examine closely, they can still be grouped together in sequence or group. I even developed my own sequence of numbers--1,4,5,8,9,12,13,16,17,2o,...-- from my birthday 14th of May. There is nothing special about the sequence except that I was the coolest kid in the class with my own special numbers. My love for mathematics grew when I started working with geometry. I was fascinated at how visual different shapes were. Geometry can describe anything because geometry makes up everything. As a result from this thought, my early descriptive essays were full of simile like "the tree is made up of thousands of rectangles and triangles". Two years ago, I relocated in the US from Vietnam and had opportunities to expose myself with concepts I wasn't familiar with. In my math courses, I started working with graphs. Graphs amazed me. Numbers were interesting but also abstract. Graphing solves that. Visually presented, numbers are so much more tangible and imaginable.

In the US, I have taken Algebra 1 and 2, and Trigonometry, am currently taking pre-calculus and I earn As in all these courses. Outside of class, I also study math on my own. I familiarized myself with pre-calculus's curriculum before taking it in school on Khan Academy

It was only natural for me to soon realize my passion in a particular field of mathematics: statistics.
