Avoid watching any unique online seminar video. Instead, simply get the video document.
This is applicable to any live video that's limited in time or only accessible to subscribers. However, this has not stopped me. Since I am using the mobile hotspot WiFi at the motel near my home, I have an extremely infrequent and slow Internet connection. Every now and then, I deliver water to their offices. Updates to the password are done every couple of weeks. I save money because I do not have to purchase my own internet. What is the time-saving benefit of just having a home cable connection? I choose to use the Internet in the hotel and leave that out. It allows me to be more private, which means I don’t have to put my street address on the IP address I use to conduct online activities.

So whenever I attend an online seminar that is unique, like from my investing advisor, or my school has a visiting lecture by a famous professor, or perhaps this special underground rave that which is streaming, it's identical.. My slow internet connection means that I cannot stream video streaming. As you will see below it takes downloading videos around 2-3 times as long as it would. My connection speed is also quite slow. I'm able to only stream videos with no buffering interruptions. My connection is just 30% slower than I would need. So I found a way to circumvent that speed limitation. I just saved the online videos to my computer so that I could watch it over and over without having to stream it again.



This is what I doing recently. I start Chrome browser, Firefox, Safari or any other browser that has an inspect tab. https://ka4ay.stream/en/ Click on the site to open the inspect page. Then, move to the Network tab, and then locate the playlist for video. It will usually have the m3u8 file extension. It could also be something else with a different extension. However, those characters will be present and will be indicating a particular playlist for the video stream. The browser you use to download the files one by one and play them in sequence. This produces an uninterrupted video stream. continuous. The process is smooth and needs more data transfer than the size of the file, but this is how the mpeg stream transport is set up and we shouldn't be complaining.




Then, I click right on the playlist file and copy its URL (into the clipboard) after which I navigate to the site to download the online video. After a while I click submit and copy the URL of my playlist. I'm then presented with several options to download with each one of them indicating how big and how long it might take to download. The larger the filesize, the higher quality it's. I tend to choose the lower quality file even though it's too slow for my Internet.



I choose to download the file. It's usually a the format of mp4 video. While it can take a lot of time however, the rewards of learning always motivate me to continue. It's difficult to watch live, so I save online video on my computer.
