A Historical Journey To The Past Newbridge Village

Newbridge is often a small tourist village in the Central West of NSW that welcomes visitors and campers. It can be a great tourist location to visit with good food offered at the Gladstone Hotel, look at the Art Gallery (Olde Bridge Gallery) , look at Craft Shop, or camp in the Showground. Take a ramble with the village with its interesting background and great scenery to discover. Newbridge is found about 32 km from Bathurst resulting in 29 km from Trunkey Creek The locality was called Back Creek or Reedy Creek, but renamed Newbridge on April 15 1878 when an overhead road traffic bridge was built on the railway line.


Newbridge was founded being a gold mining town, the Post Office opening on 1 February 1856. Newbridge village developed round the railway line and station which has been internal 1876. Newbridge can be a popular camping and fishing location with campsites available down the river. review of pride for the town, the city have kept your building beautifully maintained, and Newbridge has won several awards for just one of the greatest presented stations in the state.

If you would like to see some of the displays from the Camera Group then visit Ye Olde Gallery with the corner of Trunkey and Caloola Street in Newbridge.


The Newbridge Winter Solstice is really a day of medieval magic and music. It takes place on the street (closed to the occasion) and also on the Gladstone Green. The entertainment has contained magic shows, Viking fighting displays within the afternoon (from Iron Fest participants), food stalls, Morris Dancers, many market stalls, two bands (one inside afternoon and another for that night), horse display, street entertainment along with other activities to the younger people. There will probably be drink offered by the Gladstone Hotel (Strong Ale, Draft Guinness along with other merry-making fortifications also!). There will likely be ample food to accommodate everyone (vegetarians included) from food stalls also as the Pub. Most people is going to be put on Medieval Costume to include in the merriment.


The highlight of a special afternoon festivities will probably be the lighting and burning with the Wickerman about the large bonfire at 5pm. People are asked to buy small Wickermen earlier, write their problems about the tag and later throw them around the fire to possess them burnt away!
