l Knowledge and significance of Asanyukta-hasta- hand gestures :
Pataka, Tri-pataka, Ardha-pataka, Kartari-mukha, Mayura, Ardha-chandra, Araala, Shukatunda, Mushthi, Shikhara, Kapittha, Kataka-mukha, Suchi, Chandrakala, Padmakosha, Sarpasheersha
l Brief history of Kathak Dance.
Practical
Physical exercises of the following parts:
l Neck movement
l Two varieties of tatkar in teental
l Five tukras in teental
l Two chakkardar todas
l Two thaat
l Two amad in teental
l Tatkar – barabar, dugun ,chaugun laya, and athgun laya
l Ten paltas
l Four tihais – 2 tihais from khali and 2 tihais from sum
l One thematic dance in any prescribed taala of the course (kavit)
l Gat Nikas –
basuri and
Ghungat
l Taals Prescribed:

Bhushan Part I
Theory:
• Knowledge of teental with the following details:
§ Laya, taala, matra, tali, khali, avartan, sum
• Definition of the following:
§ Tatkar
§ Gat
§ Amad
§ Paran
§ Nritta
§ Nritya
§ Natya
§ Lasya
§ Tandava
• Knowledge of Thaat, Dugun, Chaugun, athgun and tihai
• To write all the tukras in single and dugun layakaries
• Hand mudras –
Asamyuta hastas (Single Hand Gestures)
Mayura, Ardhachandra , Mushthi, Kapitta, Chandrakala
Samayukta Hastas or Double Hand Gestures
• Anjali, Kapota, Karkata, Swastika, Dola, Pushpaputa
Practical:
l Physical exercises of the following parts of the body to make them apply:
Head movements
Shoulder movements
Eye brow movements
l To walk in rhythm and to clap with music
Teental:
Two varieties of tatkar combined with hand movements in single, dugun and chaugun and athgun layakaries
Ten easy tukras
Four chakkarda tukras
One paran prefixed amad
One sada paran
One Chakkardar paran
Four simple gats with chaal
One thematic dance in teental or keharva (gat bhava- Krishna radha)
Padhant or recitation of all the tukras learnt while making tali with the hands.
Knowledge of tatkar in Jhaptaal and Ektaal.
