What Are The Downsides Of Ocean Freight?
There are about 30 times more speed differences between passenger jets and ocean liners. Jets cruise at 575 mph, while slow-steaming ocean liners move at 16-18 mph. If selecting the most cost-effective mode is a challenge, consider these general rules of thumb:

For shipments of 500 kg and more, air freight is no longer economical.
China-US shipments take around 30-40 days by sea, and ocean freight is around $2-$4 a kg.
A China-US shipment between 150 kg and 500 kg is economically transportable by air freight, and it will take 8-10 days.
It takes a few days less to ship by air freight, but the cost is higher.
For packages under 150 kg, express shipping is an economic option.
