I am Thomas Jefferson. The United States just declared neutrality on the ongoing war in france. I see people, not satisfied with Washington’s conclusion about this situation. Most are wanting to support France in their quest for freedom, but some think that it isn’t justified. Some are scared that all of these newer enlightenment ideas will be enough for people to want to redo the government again, but it isn’t a widespread belief. I smell hope in the air, as people are trying to show support for france. I touch my head, as to soothe it, because writing about such topics as this tend to give me raging headaches. I taste the bitter sweet flavor of hope with a hint of jealousy, as while most of us are supporting france in their endeavor to split off from Britain, a hearty few of us think that their revolution is going to go down smoother than ours, giving them more freedoms. I hear of how this isn’t directly true, though, as a group identifying themselves as The Committee of Public Safety has been taking it upon themselves to, ironically, start publicly executing people who they don’t agree with. I feel inclined to do something about this, but I know that I can’t, because we have already declared a state of neutrality on this situation, and any form of help on either side will significantly reduce our country relations, business wise. I imagine a future where all countries run on democracy, and are being willed by the general public.
